Italy bridge collapse death toll rises to 43 — agency

MOSCOW, August 18. /TASS/. The number of people killed in the collapse of a bridge in Genoa has risen, reaching 43 people, the Italian news agency ANSA reported on Saturday.

Earlier reports put the number of victims at 41 people.

On the morning of August 14, a large section of a bridge through which the A10 Genoa-Savona highway passes (European route E80) collapsed. The collapsed section mostly fell onto rail tracks below, but debris also hit nearby houses. At the moment of the accident the bridge carried more than 30 cars and three trucks. About five people have been reported missing.
