Pentagon postpones November 10 military parade until 2019

WASHINGTON, August 17. /TASS/. The military parade, scheduled to take place in Washington on November 10, has been postponed until 2019, the US Department of Defense said.

"The Department of Defense and White House have been planning a parade to honor America's military veterans and commemorate the centennial of World War I," ABC News quoted the Department of Defense statement as saying. "We originally targeted November 10, 2018 for this event but have now agreed to explore opportunities in 2019."

About 5,000-7,000 servicemen, as well as military equipment and aviation, were expected to take part in the parade.

During a meeting with Pentagon officials on January 18, Trump has expressed a desire for a parade, similar to the Bastille Day march in Paris on July 14. Washington mayor’s office criticized the move.

The latest US military parade was held in 1991 on the occasion of victory in the Gulf War. About 8,000 servicemen took part.
