Over 3.7 tonnes of humanitarian cargoes delivered to Syria’s Rif Dimashq governorate

The Russian reconciliation center has conducted nearly 1,900 humanitarian operation since the beginning of the settlement process

MOSCOW, August 14. /TASS/. More than 3.7 tonnes of humanitarian cargoes were delivered by the Russian military to a refugee camp in Syria’s Rif Dimashq governorate over the past day, chief of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Opposing Parties Alexei Tsygankov said on Tuesday.

"During the past day, officers of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Opposing Parties conducted a humanitarian operation in the Hirjilla refugee camp in the Rif Dimashq governorate. A total of 3.7 tonnes of humanitarian cargoes, including building materials and food products were distributed among civilians," he said.

The Russian reconciliation center has conducted nearly 1,900 humanitarian operation since the beginning of the settlement process. About 2.9 tonnes of humanitarian cargoes have been delivered.

During the day, sixty Syrian, including 19 children, received medical assistance from Russian military doctors.

According to Tsygankov, the Russian military continue to report sporadic ceasefire violations by illegal armed groups in the Idlib de-escalation zone. Thus, in his words, as many as 114 ceasefire violations were reported in a period from August 4 to 13, or by 36% more than in a period from July 24 to August 2, when 84 ceasefire violations were reported.

Since the beginning of August, sixteen unmanned aerial vehicles launched from Idlib de-escalation zone’s territories controlled by militants have been downed near the Hemymin airbase, Tsygankov added.

Russian reconciliation center

The Russian reconciliation center continues to fulfill assigned tasks after the completion of the military campaign in Syria. The center’s officers regularly travel around the country's liberated areas to assess the humanitarian situation. The main efforts of the Russian military are now focused on assistance to the refugees returning to their homes and evacuation of civilians from de-escalation zones.
