Kyrgyzstan places special emphasis on relations with Russia, says president

Bishkek is committed to further strengthening comprehensive cooperation with the member-countries of the Eurasian Economic Union, the Collective Security Treaty Organization and the SCO

BISHKEK, August 13. /TASS/. Kyrgyzstan considers the development of relations with Russia to be a priority area of its foreign policy, President Sooronbay Jeenbekov said at a meeting of the National Council for Sustainable Development in Bishkek on Monday.

"We lay special emphasis on the development of friendly relations with neighboring countries, including with our strategic partner, Russia," he said.

According to the president, Bishkek is committed to further strengthening comprehensive cooperation with the member-countries of the Eurasian Economic Union, the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). "These are our strategic objectives," the head of state said.

Jeenbekov stressed that Kyrgyzstan raised its relations with China to a strategic level. "We will continue our work in this direction," the president added.

He mentioned cooperation with Turkey, Japan, the US and the European Union members among the foreign policy priorities.
