Russian companies to bid for energy contracts in Argentina — ambassador

The Russian diplomat added that several agreements between Russia’s Rosatom state nuclear corporation and Argentine companies are currently being discussed

BUENOS AIRES, August 10. /TASS/. Russian companies plan to place their bids in a number of tenders to be announced by the Argentine government soon, Russia’s recently appointed ambassador to Buenos Aires, Dmitry Feoktistov, said on Thursday.

"At present, the Argentine government plans to announce a number of tenders for supplies of equipment, including for the power generation facilities. Russian companies plan to take part in the competition and we hope that they offer most favorable terms," the ambassador, appointed on June 20, said at the ceremony to present his diplomatic credentials to the Argentine government.

The Russian diplomat added that several agreements between Russia’s Rosatom state nuclear corporation and Argentine companies are currently being discussed.

"As far as I know, a large-scale project to build a power generation facility, the details of which were discussed first with the Russian and then with Chinese side, has now been put on hold," he said. "That’s why the Russian side suggests that Argentina think about new opportunities, such as the construction of a Russian-designed nuclear power plant, similar to those that were built by Russia and now operate successfully in Finland and Turkey.".
