SOCHI, July 31. /TASS/. The international meeting on Syria in Russia’s Sochi will promote peace in that country, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hosein Ansari told TASS on Tuesday.

"I would like to say that the meeting has yielded a rather good result. It was a good possibility to continue agreements between the three guarantor nations to promote the process of normalizing the situation in Syria so that the country could reach all-round peace and get over the crisis," he said, adding that three issues were in focus of the talks, namely a constitutional committee, a committee for refugee exchange, and return of refugees.

Iran’s further presence in Syria depends on agreements with Damascus, the situation on the ground and the political environment in the country, he added. "Iran is present in Syria under a request from the legitimate government and due to the specific conditions in that country," he said. "We see that chaos there has led to a situation when there is no security, with terrorist groups springing into existence."

"Iran’s further presence in Syria depends on the agreements between the Iranian and Syrian governments, on the situation on the ground, and on the political situation in Syria," he stressed.
