Erdogan states intention to hold summit of Russia, Turkey, Germany and France on Syria

The summit will be on September 7 in Istanbul

ANKARA, July 29. /TASS/. President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced on Sunday the intention to hold a summit of Russia, Turkey, Germany and France on the settlement in Syria. The summit is scheduled to September 7 in Istanbul, CNN Turk TV Channel reports.

"The summit of Russia, Germany, France and Turkey will be on September 7 in Istanbul. We will consider what we can do [on the Syrian issues]," Erdogan said.

A summit of Russia, Turkey and Iran will be held in Tehran further to the meeting in Istanbul, Vatan newspaper says. "We will certainly continue our cooperation with Russian beyond the summit in Istanbul. A similar event will take place in Tehran after summits in Sochi and Ankara. Then we will have an opportunity to discuss all these topics," the President of Turkey noted.

Leaders of Russia, Turkey and Iran held a summit on Syrian settlement on April 4. The parties made a joint statement after the summit, where they expressed the intention to continue this work at the top level. The next summit in this format is planned in Tehran.
