French president to leave Moscow straight after World Cup final

In Moscow, Emmanuel Macron will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin

MOSCOW, July 15. /TASS/. French President Emmanuel Macron, along with his wife Brigitte, will leave Moscow straight after the 2018 FIFA World Cup final between France and Croatia, the French embassy informed TASS on Sunday.

"President Emmanuel Macron and his wife will attend the final match. Minister of Sports Laura Flessel and former football player Jean-Pierre Papin will accompany the President," the embassy stated. "Football players Dimitri Payet and Laurent Koscielny, who were injured before the tournament, also form part of the delegation. After the match, Emmanuel Macron will leave Russia."

As expected, the French president will arrive in Moscow shortly before the game. The embassy representative said that the exact time of the president’s arrival is unknown. In Moscow, the French leader will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The parties will discuss the latest NATO summit, which took place in Brussels on July 11-12, as well as the upcoming Russia-US summit in Helsinki on July 16.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup final will take place on July 15 at Luzhniki stadium in Moscow. The kickoff is at 18:00 Moscow time.
