Emmanuel Macron confirms plans for meeting with Vladimir Putin on July 15

BRUSSELS, July 12. /TASS/. French President Emmanuel Macron has confirmed plans for a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Sunday, July 15.

He told a news conference after the completion of a NATO summit the meeting with Putin would offer an opportunity to take up some pressing issues once again.

Macron stressed the importance of continued dialogue with Russia, adding that he had had spoken to Putin many a time and the efforts both sides were making would make it possible to move forward in a number of areas, including cybersecurity - something that Putin and he had discussed at a meeting in St Petersburg in May.

As he commented on the implementation of the Minsk accords, he said the said no one was speaking about concessions but still there was the willingness to maintain the ongoing dialogue and to keep moving forward to de-escalation.

A source at the Elysee Palace told TASS earlier Macron hoped to hold a meeting with Putin during the final of the FIFA World Cup 2018 championship where France plays vs Croatia.
