MOSCOW, July 10. /TASS/. The current situation in the Gaza Strip was in focus of a telephone conversation between Russian president’s envoy for the Middle East and African countries and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov and Hamas leader Ismail Haniya, the Russian foreign ministry said on Tuesday.
"Haniya informed the Russian side in detail about the situation in the Gaza Strip with a focus on the difficult socio-economic situation stemming from the ongoing blockade by Israel," the ministry said.
"He reiterated the Hamas leadership’s commitment to efforts towards the soonest restoration of intra-Palestinian national unity on the basis of the Egypt-mediated agreements reached between Hamas and Fatah."
The conversation was initiated by the Palestinian side.
