DPR announces need for new measures to monitor ceasefire in Donbass

According to chief negotiator for the DPR Denis Pushilin, currently "it seems that the Minsk Agreements are distributed and observed unilaterally"

DONETSK, July 1. /TASS/. The Ukrainian security forces disrupting new ceasefire agreement in Donbass demonstrates the need for a new form of control over the situation in the region, chief negotiator for the DPR at the Minsk peace talks Denis Pushilin said on Sunday at the talks of the Contract Group for the peaceful settlement of the situation in eastern Ukraine.

"To achieve the greatest effect from the next truce, we have proposed to transfer the traditional statement of the Contact Group from the oral format into a written agreement of the parties, including additional measures to control the ceasefire," Donetsk news agency quoted the text of his statement.

Pushilin added that OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine shares the same approach. "We continue to insist that this approach to establishing armistice will oblige the parties to the armed conflict to greater responsibility, and will also become an additional measure of control over compliance with the ceasefire," he added.

According to Pushilin, currently "it seems that the Minsk Agreements are distributed and observed unilaterally." He noted that the armistice that came into force on July 1 was violated by Kiev in just 9 hours.

The Contact Group has coordinated a Harvest ceasefire starting from July 1. Several incidents happened several hours prior to the ceasefire entered into force - DPR and LPR noted increase of the number of firings from the Ukrainian positions.
