Armenian opposition leader calls to continue protests "until final victory"

Lawmakers of the ruling Republican Party will vote for a "people’s candidate" for Armenia’s prime minister, the opposition leader says

YEREVAN, April 25. /TASS/. Civil disobedience protests will continue in Armenia "until the final victory", opposition leader Nikol Pashinyan said at a rally on Wednesday.

"I am urging everyone to carry on with strikes and to block roads and crossroads. I suggest stopping all the vehicles across the country for 20 minutes at 12.00 local time," he said.

Lawmakers of the ruling Republican Party will vote for a "people’s candidate" for Armenia’s prime minister, he said.

"[Acting Prime Minister Karen] Karapetyan is not supported by many deputies from the Republican Party. Today, MPs of the ruling party came up to me and assured that they were ready to vote for a people’s candidate," he said.
