SOCHI, November 22. /TASS/. Broadening the mandate of the Federal Agency for Tourism (Rostourism) may help facilitate the development of tourism industry in Russia, State Duma member, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Physical Culture, Sports, Tourism and Youth Affairs Sergei Krivonosov said.
“In my opinion, Rostourism’s mandate should be broadened so that the agency receives a right to come up with legislative initiatives so that various issues could be solved effectively and timely,” he said during the first All-Russian Congress of Tour Operators that is taking place in Sochi on November 21-24.
Krivonosov pointed out that the country’s authorities had been paying much attention to the development of tourism industry which could also facilitate the development of the real sector and compensate for the losses in other sectors.
“Tourism is the real sector, so today, when oil and gas revenues are not enough to tackle all our tasks, we need to develop the real sector to recover from the crisis,” Krivonosov added.
“The State Duma has established a new Committee on Physical Culture, Sports, Tourism and Youth Affairs, this is the first time when the word “tourism” has been included in a State Duma committee’s name. So we see that cooperation between executive and legislative power can help solve many issues,” the MP said.
