TOULOUSE, June 20. /TASS/. The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has issued a permission for players of the Russian national football team to wear mourning stripes at tonight’s 2016 Euro Cup group stage match against team Wales in Toulouse, the Russian Football Union (RFU) told TASS on Monday.

"UEFA positively replied to our request to wear mourning bands during the game against Wales as a sign of remembrance of Karelia tragedy victims," a spokesman for the RFU said in an interview with TASS.

Thirteen children FROM a summer camp in northern Russia’s Karelia region drowned, when their boats capsized during a storm on Lake Syamozero on Saturday. A search for another child, who went missing, is underway.

The camp is closing now, Russia’s Emergencies Minister Vladimir Puchkov said on Monday. A total of 189 children are currently staying there, including 58 from Moscow.

June 20 has been declared a day of mourning in Karelia.
