Magnus Carlsen defeats Vishwanathan Anand in game 2 of World Chess Championship match

SOCHI, November 9. /TASS/. The reigning champion, Magnus Carlsen (Norway), defeated the challenger and former World Champion, Vishwanathan Anand (India), in game 2 of the match for the FIDE World Chess Championship in Sochi on Sunday.

Carlsen won with a score of 1.5/0.5. Game 3 will be played on November 11.

Carlsen played with the white. After the draw is reversed in round 7, he will play with the black.

Games are played using the electronic clock approved by the FIDE. Each game is of 120 minutes for the first 40 moves, 60 minutes for the next 20 moves. From the 61st move, there is an increment of 30 seconds per move. A player who wins the game is awarded 1 point and no point is awarded in case of a defeat. If the game ends in a draw, both players share half point.

The players will have a day off after each two games. The winner will be known by November 27.
