Brazil defeats Croatia in 2014 FIFA World Cup opener

Brazil will play Mexico on June 17 and Croatia will play Cameroon on June 18 in Group A

SAO PAULO (Brazil), June 13, /ITAR-TASS/. Brazil’s national soccer team has defeated Croatia 3-1 in the opening match of the 2014 FIFA World Cup at the Arena Corinthians stadium in the city of Sao Paulo.

Croatia saw an unlikely lead when the hosts’ defender Marcelo scored an own goal in the 11th minute.

But the situation improved for Brazil soon with Neymar firing home two goals: one in the 29th minute and a penalty kick in the 71st minute.

Oscar scored a third one for Brazil in the 90th minute.

Brazil will play Mexico on June 17 and Croatia will play Cameroon on June 18 in Group A.
