Tickets for 2014 Sochi Winter Paralympics Closing Ceremony sold at $12-58

The pricing policy at the Sochi 2014 Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi is based on ticketing programs from past Games and on research into demand in the Russian market

SOCHI, March 16, 20:17 /ITAR-TASS/. Ticket prices for Sunday night's closing ceremony of the 2014 Winter Paralympic Games, which kicked off minutes past 8:00 p.m. local time at the Fisht Stadium, stood at a maximum price of 2,000 rubles ($58), organisers of the Games told an Itar-Tass correspondent.

“For groups of eleven people or more, group tickets were provided at a starting price of just 250 rubles each,” the Sochi-2014 Olympics and Paralympics organising committee’s press service said.

“Tickets to the Opening Ceremony of the Paralympic Games ranged from 700 to 5,000 rubles and for the Closing Ceremony from 400 to 2,000 rubles,” the service said.

“The pricing policy at the Sochi 2014 Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi is based on ticketing programs from past Games and on research into demand in the Russian market,” the service said.

“Paralympic ticket prices corresponded to ticket prices for the leading international Paralympic events and were comparable to the ticket prices of previous Paralympic Games,” the organizers said.

According to earlier reports, tickets for the Paralympic Games sports events in Sochi were sold out at almost 99 percent rate hitting a record number of over 300,000 tickets sold and marking a 30-percent increase against the tickets sale rate at the previous Winter Paralympics in Canada’s Vancouver in 2010.

“The ticket price for Paralympic events ranges from only 350 rubles to 1,500 rubles. Most tickets could be obtained within a price range of 400 rubles to 500 rubles,” the service added.

According to earlier reports, the total revenue of the Organising Committee's Paralympic marketing program stands at over $97 million, which is a record mark for a Paralympic Winter Games marketing programs.

Russia has risen to the top three most influential sports locations in 2012 and was named the global sports leader for 2013-2018.

In the near future, Russia will host some of the largest sporting events, which are the 2015 European Luge Championship, 2016 IIHF World Championship, 2017 Bobsleigh and Skeleton World Championship and the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
