Olympic champion Yevgeny Plushenko will perform in the individual competitions in Sochi despite the pain in his back

SOCHI, February 10. /ITAR-TASS/. Olympic champion Yevgeny Plushenko will perform in the individual competition in Sochi despite the pain in his back, the head of Russia's Figure skating Federation Alexander Gorshkov told ITAR-TASS Monday. Yevgeny Plushenko won in the free skate program with an impressive result of 165.85 points.

In January 2013, Russian Figure Skating Federation reported that Yevgeny Plushenko was appointed as the sole representative of the Russian national team in men’s singles, as the country was given only one slot in this discipline.

Late December Plushenko won silver at the Russian Figure Skating Championships, losing to Maxim Kovtun, who won the gold medal.

Plushenko won gold at the 2006 Olympics and silver at 2002 and 2010 Games. He’s a three-time world champion and seven-time European champion.
