WADA lauds Russian Anti-Doping Agency’ work on the elimination of shortcomings

The report on the correction activities for the Russian Anti-Doping Agency was delivered after an audit visit of WADA experts in 2018

MOSCOW, March 29. /TASS/. /TASS/. The World Anti-Doping Agency has positively evaluated the work of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) in the elimination of shortcomings outlined by the global agency’s audit inspection last December, the RUSADA press service announced on Friday.

"On March 28, the World Anti-Doping Agency summed up the results of RUSADA’s activities pointing to a successful implementation of certain provisions, stipulated by a report on the correction of remaining shortcomings and sent a relevant letter to the Russian Anti-Doping Agency," the press service stated.

"The letter also lauds a successful experiment on RUSADA’s use of a variety of best practices, which serve for the implementation of qualitative anti-doping programs," the press service added.

The report on the correction activities for the Russian Anti-Doping Agency was delivered after an audit visit of WADA experts on December 11-12, 2018.

The WADA Executive Committee (ExCo) held a conference call on January 22 and, based on the recommendations provided by the agency’s Compliance and Review Committee (CRC), ruled to uphold the compliance status of RUSADA.

The WADA Compliance and Review Committee recommended the Executive Committee to take no further sanctions against RUSADA at the moment and the ExCo upheld the recommendation.

The WADA Executive Committee reinstated the compliance status of RUSADA on September 20, 2018 on condition that WADA experts would be granted access to the database of the Moscow Anti-Doping Laboratory. The access to the laboratory in the Russian capital was eventually granted to WADA experts.
