SALZBURG /Austria/, March 25. /TASS/. Russia’s Ruslan Dayanov and Taras Myskin have won gold of the first-ever Snow Volleyball European Championship in Austria’s Salzburg, a TASS correspondent reported from the site on Sunday.

The Russian volleyball players defeated German athletes 3-0 in the final match, which was watched by more than 500 spectators. The winners receives a prize of 3,000 euro.

"The final game was very difficult as we had been head-to-head with the rivals," Dayanov told TASS.

"Frankly speaking, I can hardly believe we are the champions. From the very first game, it was clear it would not be an easy tournament. But now we are happy. Thanks to all you supported us," said Myskin.

Europe’s first series of three official snow volleyball tournaments was held in 2016. In December 2016, snow volleyball was officially recognized as a sports discipline in Russia.
