MOSCOW, December 19. /TASS/. The Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) received an official invitation from the European Olympic Committees (EOC) to participate in the 2019 Winter European Youth Olympic Festival, the Russian committee’s press service announced on Tuesday.
The 2019 Winter European Youth Olympic Festival will take place in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the host cities of Sarajevo and East Sarajevo between February 9 and 16, 2019.
"On behalf of the EOC, the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the cities of Sarajevo and East Sarajevo we are pleased to officially invite the Russian Olympic Committee to participate in the festival," the official invitation said.
"It will be an honor to welcome your young athletes, coaches, officials, guests and members of the European Olympic family in Bosnia and Herzegovina," the invitation said.
The invitation was signed by EOC President Janez Kocijancic, President of Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina Marijan Kvesic, Sarajevo Mayor Abdulah Skaka and East Sarajevo Mayor Nenad Vukovic.
The 2019 Winter European Youth Olympic Festival will feature seven sports competitions, namely alpine skiing, biathlon, cross country, figure skating, ice hockey, short track speed skating and snowboarding.
The Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced a decision on December 5 to temporary suspend the ROC membership in the organization and yanked the membership of ROC President Alexander Zhukov.
