MOSCOW, December 5. /TASS/. The Russian Bobsleigh Federation has filed lawsuits with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on behalf of 12 Russian bobsledders and skeleton racers against the decision made by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to ban them from the Olympics for life and annul their Sochi results, the federation’s press service told TASS.
According to the press service, athletes filing lawsuits against the IOC include Sergey Chudinov, Alexander Tretyakov, Olga Potylitsyna, Elena Nikitina, Maria Orlova, Alexey Negodailo, Dmitry Trunenkov, Alexander Zubkov, Alexander Kasyanov, Ilvir Khuzin, Alexei Pushkarev and Olga Stulneva.
The IOC earlier decided to deprive Russia of two 2014 gold medals, one of which was won by Zubkov and Alexey Voyevoda in the two-man bobsleigh event and the other was earned by Zubkov, Voyevoda, Trunenkov and Negodailo in the four-man bobsleigh event, as well as of Tretyakov’s gold and Nikitina’s bronze. The IOC issued Olympic life bans for the sanctioned athletes.
