MOSCOW, November 27. /TASS/. Russia’s Paralympic Committee will consider the possibility of arranging for an alternative to the Paralympic Games after the IPC’s decision on whether Russia will be allowed to participate in the Games, RPC President Vladimir Lukin told the media on Monday.
"Alternative competitions? Let’s move on step by step. First we’ll wait and see if we participate in the Games or not, and then look around and decide what to do next. On the basis of that principle we develop the Paralympic movement not for the sake of a showoff once in four years, but for giving people a chance. So we’ll wait and see," Lukin said.
The RPC’s membership of the IPC was suspended last August on the basis of a report by the independent commission of the World Anti-Doping Agency under Richard McLaren. Russia’s winter sports parathletes have the right to be selected for the Pyeongchang Games as neutral competitors. Their participation in the Paralympics due in March next year remains in question.
