MONACO, November 26. /TASS/. The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) has ruled to extend suspension of the Russian Athletics Federation (RusAF).
The decision was taken at a meeting of the IAAF Council in Monaco.
RusAF’s suspension makes it impossible for Russian track and field athlete to take part in international competitions under the Russian flag. They can do that only as neutrals.
RusAF’s membership in the IAAF was suspended in November 2015 following an investigation into doping abuses in Russian sports carried out by the WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) Independent Commission. An independent IAAF Taskforce on RusAF’s reinstatement process was formed It is led by Rune Andersen of Norway. One of the reinstatement conditions is reinstatement of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency’s (RUSADA) membership in the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). However, on November 16, the WADA Foundation Board refused to do that.
