KRASNODAR, March 14. /TASS/. Timofey Mozgov has no plans to leave the Los Angeles Lakers, his agent Maxim Sharifyanov told TASS Tuesday.
ESPN reported earlier in the day that Los Angeles Lakers have shut down 30-year-old center Timofey Mozgov, who is healthy, to take a stronger look at the team's younger players for the rest of the season.
"It is truly so," Sharifyanov confirmed the reports. "But he attends all training sessions and will attend all games. Lakers have little prospects for this season, so there is no reason to put an extra strain on the veterans. As far as his health is concerned, the Team Russia will only benefit from this situation."
"Timofey has a valid contract, so he does not have to leap into action. Anyway, more precise information will be available in the run-up to the draft, due to begin between late May and early June," the agent added.
Last summer, Mozgov signed a four-year, $64 million contract with the Lakers. He is averaging 7.4 points, 4.9 rebounds and 0.6 blocks in 54 games this season.
