MOSCOW, November 24. /TASS/. The Russian national football team has sunk from the 53rd to the 55th place in the FIFA rating, according to the updated rankings posted on the world football body’s website on Thursday.
Now the Russian national football team has 592 points in FIFA’s rating, staying two spots below its previous worst result posted in October 2016.
After its poor performance at the 2016 Euro Cup, Russia played five friendly matches with Turkey (0-0), Ghana (1-0), Costa Rica (3-4), Qatar (1-2) and Romania (1-0).
FIFA’s top five leaders are Argentina, Brazil, Germany, Chile and Belgium.
President of the Russian Football Union Vitaly Mutko said the FIFA rating will be revised.
"The Confederations Cup will be important for the Russian team from the point of view of the FIFA rating. Do not pay attention to it. FIFA will revise it. A new approach to the rating compilation will be prepared," Mutko told reporters.
