MOSCOW, November 9. /TASS/. Former midfielder of Brazilian national football team, Julio Baptista, will take part in the draw procedure of FIFA’s 2017 Confederations Cup, the FIFA press service said in a report on Wednesday.
"The Official Draw for the FIFA Confederations Cup 2017 will feature a very special guest, whose footballing career is intertwined with the tournament," the report said. "Julio Baptista will be on stage in Kazan on 26 November; the Brazilian midfielder will be reunited with the trophy that he won at back-to-back tournaments, in 2005 and 2009."
"Some of the brightest moments in my career happened during the FIFA Confederations Cup. In fact, my first cap with the national team came against Japan in the 2001 edition," it quoted the 35-year-old Baptista.,
"The idea of gathering all the continental champions in a single tournament is fantastic," the footballer said. "I am really proud to somehow be involved in the 2017 edition."
Baptista, who currently plays for MLS outfit Orlando City in the U.S., has played for Real Madrid CF, Arsenal FC, and AS Roma.
The draw procedure will is due to take place on November 28 in Kazan. The Confederations Cup will be held from June 17 through to July 2, 2017, in Moscow (Otkrytiye-Arena stadium), St Petersburg (Krestovsky Island), Sochi (Fisht), and Kazan (Kazan-Arena).
