BOGOTA, October 2. /TASS/. The Russian team in futsal has lost to the Argentinians in the world championship final and became the silver medalist. The final match finished at the Colombian Cali’s Coliseo del pueblo with the score of 5:4 in favor of the Argentine team.
In the Russian team, Eder Lima scored three times (16th, 22nd and 40th minutes), Dmitri Lyskov scored at the 39th minute. In the Argentine team, among scorers were Alomiro Vaporaki (16th minute), Leandro Cuzzoline (20th, 23rd minutes), Alan Brandi (22nd minute) and Constantino Vaporaki (39th minute). Both teams showed their best results in the history of world championships as the previous best result for Russians was the bronze medal, while Argentinians did not win any medals at all.
On the way to the final, the Russian team won six matches. At the group stage, Russian athletes beat Thailand 6:4, Egypt 6:1, Cuba 7:1. In the 1/8 final, they won over Vietnam 7:0 and beat Iran in the semi-final 4:3.
The Russian futsal team is the 1999 European champion. Argentinians won the South American championship twice - in 2003 and 2015.
