MOSCOW, September 7. /TASS/. Russian Olympic champions Elena Vesnina and Ekaterina Makarova will be taking part in the Kremlin Cup tennis tournament, scheduled to be held next month in the Russian capital, the Russian Tennis Federation (RTF) announced on Wednesday.
Vesnina and Makarova played in the pairs category at the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro last month and clinched the gold without a single loss on their way to the final.
The RTF added that besides the two Olympic champions, Russia’s Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Daria Kasatkina will be also playing at the Kremlin Cup, while Andrei Kuznetsov will be sole male player representing Russia at the upcoming tournament.
The Kremlin Cup is scheduled to be held in Moscow’s Olympic Stadium between October 15 and 23 and has $1.5 million in prize money up for grabs.
