Carrera’s predecessor Dmitry Alenichev decided to quit his post in early August after the club failed to reach the UEFA Europe League playoff .
Carrera became the club’s acting head coach after Alenichev’s resignation.
Alexander Zhirkov, Deputy Chairman of the Spartak Board of Directors, said a two-year contract had been signed with the Italian trainer.
Carrera said he was proud and happy to become the head coach of one of Russia’s most famous football clubs and promised to work day and night to achieve success.
