MOSCOW, August 16. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated Russian Greco-Roman wrestler Davit Chakvetadze on winning a gold medal at the Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
"You approached the final competition with confidence and were stronger in the decisive bout displaying patience and will, and rightly won the Olympic champion title. Millions of fans are sincerely proud of your success," says a cable from the head of state posted on the Kremlin website on Tuesday.
The president wished the athlete happiness, well-being and all the very best.
Russian Greco-Roman wrestler Davit Chakvetadze won the gold in the men’s 85 kg Olympic event in Rio on August 15. The Russian contender, 23, defeated Ukraine’s Zhan Belenyuk 9-2 in the final. Javid Gamzatov of Belarus and Denis Kudla of Germany clinched the bronze.
