MOSCOW, August 12. /TASS/. Kurban Berdyev has been appointed the head coach of the Russian football club Spartak Moscow, a source close to the matter told TASS on Friday.

"Berdyev has signed a contract with Spartak," the source said in an interview with TASS.

Spartak FC ex-head coach Dmitry Alenichev was dismissed from his post on August 5 after having managed the club since June 2015.

Before taking the helm at Spartak Moscow, Berdyev, 63, managed Rostov FC since December 2014 and led the club to second place in the 2015-2016 season of the Russian Premier League.

Throughout its almost century-long history, Spartak Moscow FC was the 12-time USSR champion, nine-time Russia champion and is the holder of other numerous titles and trophies.
