RIO DE JANEIRO, August 11. /TASS/. Russia’s national team has descended from the fifth to the sixth place in the medal standing after Day 5 of the Summer Olympic Games in Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro, with a total of 15 medals - four gold, seven silver and four bronze.
On Wednesday, Russia won three medals. Inna Deriglazova of Russia won gold in women’s foil individual, the first Olympic gold for Russia in this discipline since 1968. Olga Zabelinskaya clinched the 2016 Rio Olympic silver in the women’s road cycling individual time trial. Swimmer Anton Chupkov won the bronze medal in men’s 200m breaststroke to be the first Russian athlete to grab a medal in this discipline since 1996.
The medals table is topped by the United States, with 11 gold, 11 silver and ten bronze medals. The United States is followed by China (10/5/8), and Japan is third (6-1-11).
The Summer Olympic Games that kicked off in Rio on August 5 will finish on August 21.
