RIO DE JANEIRO, August 11. /TASS/. Russian swimmer Anton Chupkov has won the bronze medal in men’s 200m breaststroke at the Olympic Games in Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro on Wednesday.

Chupkov, 19, finished the final heat in 2 minutes and 7.7 seconds. Gold went to Dmitry Balandin of Kazakhstan (2,07.46). Josh Prenot of the United States won the silver medal (2,07.53).

Russian swimmers have been failing to win medals in men’s 200m breaststroke since the Olympic Games in Atlanta in 1996, when Andrei Korneyev finished third.

This medal is the 15th one won by Russia at the Rio Games. In all, Russia has four gold medals, seven silver medals and four bronze medals.
