RIO DE JANEIRO, August 10./TASS/. The Russian Artistic Gymnastics Women’s Team has won silver at the Rio Olympics.
Aliya Mustafina, Daria Spiridonova, Seda Tutkhalyan, Maria Paseka and Angelina Melnikova took silver with the final score of 176.688. The US team took gold (184.897), while bronze went to China (176.003).
This has become Russia’s 12th medal at Rio 2016. On Monday, Russian men’s team in artistic gymnastics also took silver in men’s team all-round.
Russian artistic gymnast and 2012 Olympic champion Aliya Mustafina says her main goal at the Rio Olympics has been achieved after the Russian artistic gymnastics women’s team won silver.
"I am not ready to speak about next competitions at the moment, right now I just want to have a rest. I will try to do my personal best, but I have already achieved my main goal at the Olympic Games," Mustafina said.
She will also compete in individual all-around and in the women’s artistic gymnastics uneven bars, where she won the gold medal four years ago.
"I am very tired, and right now I simply want to repose myself. Of course I am very happy," the athlete said. "We fought to the last and scored silver. We did our best today, this was all we could do. We were well aware that any mistake could leave us without a medal, and we tried not to make them," she added.
All in all, at the moment Russia has three gold, six silver and three bronze medals.
