RIO DE JANEIRO, August 7 /TASS/. The Russian Olympic squad ranks 6th in the unofficial overall team’s medal standings after the first Olympic day. Russia has one gold medal to its credit.

On Saturday, a 30-year-old judoka Beslan Mudranov defeated Yeldos Smetov of Kazakhstan on the first day of the Olympic competitions in the under 60 kg weight category and won the first Olympic gold for Russia.

Russia is sharing the sixth place with Argentina, Belgium, Thailand and Vietnam that also have one gold medal.

1. Australia - 3 (2 gold and 1 bronze)

2. Hungary - 2 (2 gold medals)

3. USA - 5 (1 gold and 4 silver)

4. Republic of Korea - 2 (1 gold and 1 silver)

5. Japan - 5 (1 gold and 4 bronze)
