RIO DE JANEIRO, August 4. /TASS/. Up to 12,000 Russian fans plan to attend the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Brazil, Russian Consul General in Rio de Janeiro Vladimir Tokmakov told TASS on Thursday.
"We expect 10,000-12,000 Russian funs to come to Brazil as they already bought tickets to sports events in the framework of the Olympic Games," Tokmakov said. "Moreover, ordinary tourists will come as well, of course, because people can attend not only competitions but also fan zones, and there are enough of them here," he added.
The diplomat said that the Russian Consulate General is ready to prove any kind of assistance to Russian tourists if necessary.
"The Russian Consulate General carefully prepared for the Olympics. We devised an action plan, staff were divided in terms of cooperation with the Russian Olympic Committee and Rio 2016 Organizing Committee. You can say that the Olympics have already started for us long ago because the start of the Games is not something stressful for the Consulate General. We are ready to provide any kind of assistance to Russians," Tokmakov explained.
The 31st Summer Olympic Games will be held in Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro from August 5 through 21, 2016.
