MOSCOW, July 27. /TASS/. The bulk of the Russian national team, about 70 athletes, is to take a flight to Brazil's Rio to compete in the next month's Summer Olympics after a leave-taking ceremony at Moscow's Sheremetyevo airport on Thursday morning, Russia's Olympic Committee (ROC) told TASS on Wednesday.
ROC President Aleksander Zhukov is due to be present, ROC said.
"After the goodbye ceremony, the men's and women's volleyball teams, women's handball team, and boxing, synchronized swimming and table tennis teams are to leave for Rio. At least 70 athletes (are scheduled to go)," it said.
Flight SU7150 takes off at 8.10 a.m. Moscow Standard Time (5.10 a.m. GMT). The ceremony begins two hours earlier, at 6.00 a.m.
The 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro are scheduled for August 5-21.
