MOSCOW, July 24. /TASS/. The International Handball Federation (IHF) has no claims to Russian athletes who are to be allowed to compete at the Rio 2016 Olympics, President of the Russian Handball Federation (RHF) Sergei Shishkarev told TASS on Sunday.
"[Hassan] Moustafa [the IHF president - TASS] visited the pre-Olympic tournament in Holland. When speaking to him, I heard him saying the words of support to us," Shishakrev said. "I have expected today’s verdict. We are satisfied with this decision although I cannot say it is affair one. There are no claims to the Russian Handball Federation. There will be no questions from the International Handball Federation. We really plan to win medals. The Games would be inferior without the Russian team."
On Sunday, the International Olympic Committee held a meeting of its executive board to discuss possible blanket ban of Russian athletes at the Rio Olympics. The IOC executive committee decided not to ban the Russian team. Individual decisions on Russian athletes have been referred to relevant international federations.
