ROME, July 19 /TASS/. Giovanni Malago, the president of the National Olympic Committee of Italy, said on Tuesday that he could not imagine the 2016 Summer Olympic Games without the Russian national team.

"In collective imagination, the Olympic Games are an event for all. Honestly, I cannot imagine them without Russia," the ANSA Italian News Agency quoted Malago as saying. He also said he was not in a position to make decisions on teams’ participation in the Olympics.

On July 18, the WADA independent commission submitted a report on investigation into accusations of doping machinations at the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi. The WADA executive committee used the commission’s conclusions to recommend the International Olympic Committee, the International Paralympic Committee and all international sports federations to ban Russian athletes from their competitions.

The Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro will take place on August 5-21.
