MOSCOW, July 5. /TASS/. World’s governing body of football FIFA has approved the introduction of the 4th category of tickets for matches of the 2018 World Cup in Russia, Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko said on Tuesday.
"Today we have literally lauched the ticket sales program and the prices will be announced shortly," Mutko, who is also the president of the Russian Football Union and chairman of the Russia-2018 Local Organizing Committee (LOC), said.
"FIFA decided to meet our proposal and introduced the fourth category of tickets for Russian football fans," Mutko said. "They [4th category tickets] will be cheaper compared with the  World Cup in Brazil."
Ticket prices for FIFA tournaments are usually divided into three categories and the global football organization visas the price for each category. The fourth category introduced for the World Cup in Russia by FIFA today is the cheapest compared to the others.
"For the 2018 FIFA World Cup, domestic residents will have access to at least 350,000 tickets in category 4, with prices starting from RUB 1,280. Tickets available to all football fans in the remaining categories will be on sale from 105 USD upwards," the statement said.
Tickets price for the opening match of the 2018 FIFA World Cup will start at 3,200 rubles ($50), FIFA has announced.
Tickets price for the final match of the global football championship for Russian citizens will start at 7,040 rubles ($110). The most expensive tickets for the opening match will cost $550 and for the final match - $1,100.
Tickets price for Russians at 2018 World Cup matches to start at $20, according to FIFA, price for opening match to start from $50.
Fifa announced in a statement tickets price for Russian citizens for matches of the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup, to be hosted by Russia, will start at 960 rubles ($15).
Tickets price for the matches of the next year’s tournament for foreign guests will start from $70.
The sale will start on November 8.
"As for the South Africa and Brazil FIFA World Cups held in 2010 and 2014, a special category has been reserved for residents of the host country, who will be able to apply for FIFA Confederations Cup Russia group-match tickets starting at RUB 960," FIFA announced in its statement on Tuesday adding that "at least 100,000 tickets will be available in this specific category 4."
