MOSCOW, April 4 /TASS/. The European Handball Federation will not isolate Russia from the Ukrainian and Turkish handball teams at a drawing ceremony for the 2018 European men’s qualifying tournament, a source at the European Handball Federation press service told TASS.
We are not going to separate the teams in advance. Russia may get into one group with Ukraine and Turkey (if the Russian team advances to the qualifying tournament), the source stressed.
The drawing ceremony will take place in Dubrovnik, Croatia, on April 14.
The Russian national handball team is in the second basket; the Ukrainian team is in the fourth. Turkey will play two matches against Belgium on April 6 and 9 for the right to participate in the qualifying tournament. If Turkey wins, its team will be in the fourth basket.
The European Handball Championship will take place in Croatia on January 12-28, 2018.
