MOSCOW, February 25. /TASS/. Turkey’s Fenerbahce FC advanced to UEFA Europa League’s Round of Last 16 following the 1:1 draw in its away second leg match against Moscow Lokomotiv FC in Thursday night in the Russian capital.
The score was opened by hosts in the 45th minute of the match, held at the Lokomotiv Stadium in Moscow, by Alexander Samedov. However, Fenerbahce’s midfielder Mehmet Topal answered the hosting club with the goal on the 83rd minute leaving the score unchanged until the final whistle.
The first leg match between both clubs was held February 16 in Turkey’s Istanbul with hosts beating the club from Moscow 2-0. Both goals were scored by Fenerbahce’s defensive midfielder Souza in the 18th and 72nd minutes of the match.
With an aggregate score of 3-1 after home and away matches Fenerbahce knocked Lokomotiv out of the race for the title of Europa League’s champions. The next competitor for the Turkish football club will be determined at the Round of Last 16 Draw in Switzerland’s Nyon on February 26.
