BELGRADE, February 14 /TASS/. The Russian national team has lost its third European Minifootball Championship final - this time in a match against Spain that ended in the Serbian capital Belgrade 7-3 in Spain’s favor.
Russia lost two previous finals at the European Minifootball Championships - to Spaniards (1:3) in 2012 and to Italians (1:3) in 2014.
It was the Russian team’s fifth final match against Spain at the European Championships. Russia won its only European Minifootball final in 1999.
The European title won in Serbia is the 7th for the Spanish minifootball team. They used to win in 1996, 2001, 2005, 2007, 2010 and 2012.
The European Minifootball Championship was not a qualifier for the world championship to be held in Colombia in September. Qualifiers among European teams are scheduled for March-April. Russia and Belarus will meet in two qualifiers - on March 22 and April 12.
