Russia will host World Junior Ice Hockey Championship in 2022 — IHHF chief

HELSINKI/MOSCOW, January 5. /TASS/. The 2022 World Junior Ice Hockey Championship will be held in Russia, President of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Rene Fasel said on Tuesday.

He said the tournament could take place in Novosibirsk, western Siberia, Ufa, the capital of the Volga republic of Bashkiria, or St. Petersburg.

Vladislav Tretyak, president of the Russian Hockey Federation (RHF), told TASS that Russia was ready to host the tournament but no final decision had been made so far.

"Russia has a great experience of hosting world championships," Tretyak said. "We are ready to host these tournaments and hold them at the highest level. As for the 2022 World Junior Ice Hockey Championship, no final decision has been taken yet."

Russia previously hosted the World Junior Ice Hockey Championship in 2013.
