MOSCOW, November 30. /TASS/. Russian modern pentathlon champion Alexander Kukarin has died of a sudden heart failure at the age of 22, a source told TASS on Monday.
The athlete’s body was found in a Moscow hotel on November 26. He was buried at a cemetery in St. Petersburg on Sunday.
"Sudden heart failure is the preliminary cause of the athlete’s death," the source said adding that the exact cause would be known in a month or two.
Kukarin, a silver medalist of the 2015 world championships and the bronze medalist of the 2015 European championships, was also a two-time champion of junior world and European tournaments in 2011.
