Russia’s national football team suffers first defeat under Slutsky’s command

ROSTOV-ON-DON, November 17. /TASS/. Russia’s national football team has lost to Croatia’s team 1-3 in the southern Russian city of Rostov-on-Don in a friendly match as part of preparation for the final tournament of the 2016 UEFA European Championship.

Russia’s Fyodor Smolov scored in the 15th minute, and Croatia’s Nikola Kalinic, Marcelo Brozovic and Mario Mandzukic shot goals in the 57th, 60th and 82nd minutes respectively.

The defeat is the Russian team’s first in the period when it is led by Leonid Slutsky. Before that, the team has achieved four victories in the Euro 2016 qualifiers and defeated Portugal in a friendly match 1-0.

Russia’s national team has made it to the final tournament of Euro 2016 that will be held in France.
