MOSCOW, November 11 /TASS/. The Council of the International Association of Athletics Federations will hold an extraordinary meeting on Friday to discuss possible suspension of the Russian Athletics Federation membership of IAAF on the basis of an independent report of the World Anti-Doping Agency, Russian Athletics Federation Acting President Vadim Zelichyonok told TASS.
"There will be only one topic on the agenda - the participation of Russian athletes in international competitions and the status of the Russian Athletics Federation," Zelichyonok stressed.
"I do not know the reason why the meeting is being held so urgently but there must have been some arguments," he added.
"Anyway, we have the right to appeal any decision, which is going to be made. However, there may be a decision, which will not require an appeal," Zelichyonok added.
The meeting may take place in the form of a video conference because not all members of the IAAF Council can arrive at the IAAF headquarters in Monaco at such a short notice. Besides, the organization’s governing body will hold a planned meeting in two weeks on November 26-27.
