BEIJING, August 28. /TASS/. Russia’s Sergey Shubenkov brought the team’s first gold of the 2015 IAAF World Championships, held in China’s Beijing on August 22-30, after winning on Friday in men’s 110 meters hurdles.
The 24-year-old Russian runner finished the distance in 12.98 seconds setting a new national record. Shubenkov, the 2013 World Championship’s bronze medalist, also became the first Russian to win the world championship’s gold in 110 meters hurdles.
The silver went to Jamaica’s Hansle Parchment and the bronze to Aries Merritt of the United States, who finished the distance in 13.03 and 13.04 seconds respectively.
