MONACO, August 28 /TASS/. Maxim Mitrofanov, director-general of Zenit (St. Petersburg) football club, told journalists on Thursday that he had not received any offer to occupy a similar post at the Russian Football Union (RFU).
Previous media reports said that Mitrofanov might become the RFU new director-general. The Russian Football Union (RFU) will elect the organization’s new president on September 2 with Russian Sport Minister Vitaly Mutko being the only candidate to the post.
"These are just rumours. I have not discussed anything with anybody and I have no plans to leave. I like my work at Zenit where I feel responsible for what I do. We have many projects, including football and basketball clubs. So, it’s nothing more than rumours and speculations," Mitrofanov stressed.
Alexander Alayev has been RFU’s director-general since December 2013.
